Active Citizenry in Marine Conservation
July 4, 2018

On the 4th of July 2018, The International SeaKeepers Society, Asia was invited to speak to 150 students on Active Citizenry – Marine Conservation at Deyi Secondary School. The presentation was developed to inspire the students to be curious about and mindful of how they can contribute as active citizens to marine conservation. To set the tone, SeaKeepers spoke of the threats to our oceans and informed the participants of how we enable active citizenry in marine conservation within communities. Co-presenter with SeaKeepers was Melissa Lam, Founder of the Bamboo Straw Girl, who shared her personal story and journey in actively providing a solution towards reducing single-use plastic and the overall goal towards zero waste.
