Annual ShowBoats International Monaco Rendezvous
This four-day
celebration brought together a rare mix from the stratosphere of affluence.
Megayacht owners, their friends and family, along with the luminaries
of the megayacht industry, blend business and pleasure as they share
experiences with their peers. The glamorous Bal de la Mer Gala at the
historic Hotel de Paris raised funds to support The International SeaKeepers
Society and The Mediterranean Science Commission —two organizations
dedicated to protecting the marine environment. During this spectacular
evening of dining and dancing, the 2007
SeaKeeper Award was presented
to Ted Danson for his extraordinary
commitment to marine conservation. |

/ Scripps Coastal Monitoring Project
Members
of The International SeaKeepers Society
and executives from Scripps Institution of
Oceanography participated in a commencement
dinner at the Birch Aquarium in San Diego,
CA to launch the new SeaKeepers
/ Scripps Coastal Monitoring Project. This exciting new initiative combines
the world renowned scientific and technical
expertise of the Scripps with the financial
resources and marine conservation passion
of the SeaKeepers. In a three-year, $1 million
research and development program this project
will create instrumentation that can be networked
for coastal observing, with the potential
of providing high-quality, low-cost, standardized,
near-shore oceanographic data to scientists
and resource managers around the world. |
