EUROPEAN REPRESENTATIVE

Rosemary De Vos
Official Representative, European Area

Rosemary is an independent sustainability consultant working on the corporate responsibility agenda, supporting the use of auditing, application of ISO standards and sustainability measures in context, including CO2 emissions and waste reduction, while utilizing new and traditional media to promote messages on a global scale.

With a long-term passion for the sea and coastal environments, and making use of her background in Environmental Sciences, International Management and Strategic Management of Sustainable Development, marketing and communications, in a small way, Rosemary hopes to help the International SeaKeepers Society encourage participation and collaboration in the clean up and protection of our oceans.

Ensuring that future generations have the opportunity to benefit from fertile, vital oceans needs global attention now, so building awareness and garnering support from the seafaring community and associated industry professionals has to be the number one priority!

INTERNATIONAL REPRESENTATIVE

Katsumi Kobayashi
Official Representative, Japan & Asia-Pacific Area

Mr. Katsumi Kobayashi. Mr. Kobayashi, or “Katsu” as he is familiarly called, has been involved in the marine and yachting industries since he was a teenager, including organizing international sailboat races. At one time he also represented Feadship, an Official SeaKeepers Yacht Partner, in Japan. Throughout his life he has supported diverse altruistic programs, including several marine conservation organizations. Mr. Kobayashi said, “The SeaKeepers cause is one of global significance. I am honored to speak for such a universal concern.”

As an official representative for the Society, Mr. Kobayashi will investigate opportunities for new Founders, corporate sponsors and will develop other mutually beneficial relationships within Japan and the Asia-Pacific area.

We could have saved it, but we were too damned cheap!
Kurt Vonnegut (1990)

Each year industrial, household cleaning, gardening, and automotive products pollute water. Approximately 65,000 chemicals are used commercially in the United States today, with about 1,000 new ones added each year. Only 300 or so have been extensively tested for toxicity.
