Marine Society Honors SeaKeepers

At its annual Awards Luncheon at the OCEANS’08 MTS/IEEE Quebec City Conference last month the prestigious
Marine Technology Society honored the International SeaKeepers Society with its Special Commendation and Award for "outstanding accomplishments leading to significant advances in marine affairs.”
The Marine Technology Society (MTS) was incorporated in 1963 to give members of academia, government
and industry a common forum for the exchange of information and ideas. Their guiding purpose is to promote awareness,
understanding, advancement and application of marine technology. Today, MTS boasts a membership of ocean engineers,
technologists, policy makers and educators.
“We are honored to be acknowledged for our contributions to science,” said SeaKeepers CEO John Englander upon accepting the award. “We are encouraged by the interest in expanding and commercializing the technology we developed.”
In 2002, SeaKeepers monitoring system was honored with the prestigious Intel Environment Award by The Tech
Museum.
