A BRIEF SUMMARY OF SEAKEEPERS TECHNICAL ACHIEVEMENTS
- Concept design and implementation of a modular automated ocean
and meteorological data acquisition and telemetry system. The
package includes a weather station, a NEMA4 enclosure for the
computer and INMARSAT C transceiver, an instrument enclosure
with oceanographic sensors, a sea surface temperature probe,
and a pair of thru-hull valves. CAT5 and coaxial cables link
the unit with the ship’s computer, instrument locations
on the mast and the antenna.
- Currently, the system samples the following oceanographic information:
salinity, dissolved oxygen, redox, pH, sea surface temperature.
- Currently, the systems sample the following meteorological
information: winds speed and direction, air temperature, relative
humidity, barometric pressure.
- The U.S. Government awarded SeaKeeper 1000TM a patent on March
25th 2003.
- Partnerships with manufacturers to design sensors to fit our “footprint.”
- Design, evaluation and implementation of a biocide generator
for the module (AFD = antifouling device)
- Creation of a software package to control system, log data
and transmit data via INMARSAT, Iridium or GOES.
- Acceptance, after rigorous testing by the National Data Buoy
Center of our Ocean monitoring system for us eon 3-meter buoys,
6-meter buoys and C-MAN stations.
- We have satisfactorily demonstrated our ability on more than
40 platforms to have equipment work reliably with minimal maintenance
for periods of one year and longer.
