Witley, UK
June 26, 2025
Overview
On June 26, 2025, The International SeaKeepers Society UK Chapter welcomed Steve Hall, Head of Partnerships at Seabed 2030, to present to students from King Edward’s Witley as part of the International Junior SeaKeepers Programme. His webinar, titled Bathymetric Data Recordings with Seabed 2030, introduced the students to the importance of the Seabed 2030 project, which aims to map the entire global ocean seafloor by the year 2030, and the variety of jobs available for those that are interested in marine science. Ranging from creating and installing underwater technology, to marine engineering, to conservation research, Steve highlighted how the students can follow unique career paths in the marine industry that they wouldn’t have considered previously. Steve inspired the students with stories of his experiences working in the marine field and opinions on current issues affecting the ocean, encouraging the group to broaden their horizons and think only of what is possible when planning their futures.
The International SeaKeepers Society extend their greatest thanks and warmest regards to Steve Hall for participating in this webinar session, giving his valuable time to inspire the next generation of ocean stewards through the International Junior SeaKeepers Programme. This webinar was recorded and shared with our international cohort of students to extend the educational opportunity beyond the live session. Presentations like this one allow Junior SeaKeepers to connect directly with marine scientists and conservationists, fostering awareness, inspiration, and a global community of ocean advocates.
