D/Y Bay Ripper / North Point Virginia Key Beach
February 2021

SeaKeepers spent this year’s Valentine’s Day weekend showing the ocean a little love, and got to explore the North point of Virginia Key Beach, a new clean up site for us. We partnered with Blue Scholars Initiative and Frost Museum of Science’s MUVE, and not only had volunteers picking up trash on the sand, but in the water too! The combined efforts of our friends on the beach and on paddleboards resulted in a record-breaking 735 pounds of trash! Fortunately, our volunteers didn’t have to lug this almost half a ton of trash back up the beach, and instead we were able to collaborate with DISCOVERY Yacht Bay Ripper for trash disposal. We are so lucky to have so many dedicated volunteers who helped out the ocean this weekend like never before!
