Monthly Beach Cleanup
- December, 2019
- Key Biscayne, Florida
Event Overview
On December 8th, 2019, SeaKeepers SeaKeepers hosted itโs monthly beach cleanup on Key Biscayne. 62 volunteers attended and removed 90 pounds of trash from the beach! Most of the garbage found was cigarette butts, plastic and foam pieces, plastic bottle caps, food wrappers, and plastic bottles. The cleanup findings were documented on The Ocean Conservancyโs application โClean Swellโ where it then goes into the worldโs largest ocean trash dataset. The data helps researchers and policy makers identify trends and create solutions. With this cleanup, SeaKeepers has officially removed 1,092 pounds of trash from this beach since June! We look forward to expanding our partnerships with local schools and businesses to conserve our local beaches and waters. Thank you to all of our volunteers!
