Founders 2018

The SeaKeepers Society hosted an exclusive gathering of the most powerful and influential members of the yachting community, celebrating our 20th Anniversary. This year’s anniversary celebration collectively highlighted key stakeholders in the history of the organization, and featured current programming from the DISCOVERY Yacht Fleet.

The International SeaKeepers Society’s Asia Chapter hosted the Asia Awards Dinner 2018 at ONE°15 Marina Club, Sentosa Cove, Singapore on April 13th to present a SeaKeeper of the World Award, the Asia Achievement Award, and DISCOVERY Yacht Presentations to members of the DISOCVERY Yacht Program.This is the third year for the Asia Awards Dinner, which is hosted every year by Sandra & Julian Chang. Julian Chang is a SeaKeepers Board member and President of the SeaKeepers Asia chapter.



Founders 2017

SeaKeepers hosted Founders 2017 at the waterfront home of Tom and Katia Bates on November 2nd, 2017. SeaKeepers was thrilled to have special guests Captain Sandra Yawn from Bravo’s Below Deck Mediterranean and Captain Paul Watson Founder of Sea Shepherd Conservation Society attend the event.

Bermuda 2017

Thank you to everyone for making SeaKeepers Bermuda 2017 such a success! More than 120 guests enjoyed a spectacular evening at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute on June 22nd. We are delighted to have had the opportunity to recognize the 2017 SeaKeeper of the Year, Wendy Schmidt, and the SeaKeepers of Bermuda, Philippe Max Rouja, Judie Clee, John Paul Skinner, and Chris Flook.

Programming with the 2016-2017 DISCOVERY Yacht Fleet was also featured showing how the International SeaKeepers Society partners with the yachting community.

Event Information 

The International SeaKeepers Society, Asia Awards Dinner 2017 was hosted by Dinner Chairs Julian and Sandra Chang, to recognize Francis Lee and the Nature Society (Singapore) Marine Conservation Group for their extraordinary efforts and commitment towards Singapore’s marine conservation. The event was held at the SEA Aquarium, Resorts World Sentosa Singapore. Fabien Cousteau, world renowned aquanaut and member of the Scientific Advisory Committee of the International SeaKeepers Society and Sylvia Earle, marine biologist, explorer, author, and also a member of SeaKeepers’ Scientific Advisory Council, were special guests for the evening.

On January 28, 2017, more than 180 guests enjoyed a spectacular evening at the Sailfish Club of Florida featuring Dinner Chairs Efrem “Skip” Zimbalist III & Paula Zimbalist with the award presented by Fabien Cousteau. 2015 SeaKeeper Award

On November 5th, The International SeaKeepers Society hosted Bal de la Mer and Founders’ Dinner as a combined event to recognize FABIEN COUSTEAU as the 2015 SeaKeeper Award Recipient. We would like to thank all of our sponsors and guests who attended the event. Over 250 supporters showed up to recognize the efforts and accomplishments of Fabien Cousteau. SeaKeepers also enjoyed the presence of first time SeaKeepers awardee Jean-Michel Cousteau who presented this year’s award to his son. Also recognized were the 2015 DISCOVERY Yacht Fleet members.


2015 Barcelona Yacht Rendezvous

On Friday, May 8th 2015 The International SeaKeepers Society hosted the Barcelona Yacht Rendezvous at OnceOcean Port Vell, a blue flag marina in recognition of the highest environmental standards.

During the evening the DISCOVERY Yachts Program was introduced to the Mediterranean and SeaKeepers presented a video highlighting the 2014/2015 DISCOVERY Yachts mission. They were joined by three of their recent scientific partners to the DISCOVERY Yachts Program in Europe. Christina Sorensen Lotter of Danish Yachts has come onboard as SeaKeepers European DISCOVERY Yachts program partner. Danish Yachts will be supporting SeaKeepers instrument deployment initiative by placing five SeaKeepers Drifters on each of their future Cat-SWATH vessels.

Among the event guests were two of SeaKeepers recent European scientific program partners, Dr. Pierre-Marie Poulain, from the Italian State Funded Research Institute OGS, and Barbara Jackson, The Baltic Sea Program Director for the Zennstrom Foundation.

This Rendezvous is the beginning of many international locations for the SeaKeepers ocean research and conservation programs as SeaKeepers plan to launch their expeditions globally.

2014 Founders’ Dinner

On October 30th over one hundred and fifty guests gathered to honor 2014 DISCOVERY Yachts at the waterfront residence of Founders’ Dinner Chairs, Tom and Katia Bates.  Michael T. Moore, Chairman of the Board of SeaKeepers and Richard Snow, President of SeaKeepers awarded 2014 DISCOVERY Yachts Copasetic, Defiance, Fugitive, LoJo, Meduse, Penny Mae, Shredder of Fleet Miami, and Valkyrie, and the yacht owners for their support of DISCOVERY Yacht missions. Through the end of September, SeaKeepers has facilitated three scientific expeditions, four outreach educational programs, and had five SeaKeepers Drifters deployed. The evening paid homage to the extraordinary generosity of the owners, captains and crew associated with the DISCOVERY Yacht missions.

2014 Bal de la Mer

On September 26th over two hundred guests gathered at the Yacht Club de Monaco in Monte Carlo, Monaco to honor Wendy Benchley as the 2014 SeaKeeper Award Recipient at the annual Bal de la Mer.  Michael T. Moore, Chairman of the Board of SeaKeepers; Maria Damanaki, Honorary Committee Chair; and Richard Snow, President of Seakeepers welcomed Benchley into the ranks of past honorees including Sylvia Earle, H.S.H. Prince Albert II and James Cameron for their extraordinary commitment to ocean conservation and awareness.

Benchley is engaged in the marine policy and conservation community as a respected leader and generous supporter. Benchley’s efforts span decades of activism including  a 28-year commitment as National Council and Advisory Trustee of the Environmental Defense Fund and Co-Founding the Peter Benchley Ocean AwardsTM, dedicated to her late husband’s legacy to recognize the remarkable ocean conservation efforts of marine explorers, policy makers, researchers, and scientist. Today she is recognized as a global voice on ocean and shark conservation.

2014 Founders’ Dinner

Hosted by Michael Saylor and The International SeaKeepers Society 

The yachting community gathered at Villa Vecchia for Moon Over Miami, an annual celebration during the Miami Yacht and Brokerage Show.  Approximately two hundred guests attended to support.

The International SeaKeepers Society works directly with the yachting community as an essential component and contributor to ocean research and conservation efforts.

Among those in attendance were members and supporters; including prominent yachstmen, business leaders, philanthropists, and celebrities.  The luxurious private estate’s picturesque gardens and breath-taking waterfront views created an ideal setting for the event, renowned for its elegance and exclusivity.

Guests were treated to an extravagant affair with live music, cocktails and specialty vodka stations; a moving feast of epicurean treats, dessert bar, and fabulous silent auction items.  The event also featured artistic designs on multiple drifter units to raise awareness about SeaKeepers’ latest ocean monitoring device, an element of the DISCOVERY Yacht program which provides scientists with a necessary platform for conducting cutting-edge research.
