Capitol Hill Ocean Week 2025

Overview

SeaKeepers’ Science Liaison, Katie, attended Capitol Hill Ocean Week (CHOW) in Washington D.C. from June 2nd-4th, 2025. This annual event hosted by the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation (NMSF) is the nation’s premier annual conference examining current marine, coastal and Great Lakes policy issues. CHOW 2025 included advocacy on Hill Day, expert panels on emerging ocean economies, marine innovation, and coastal resilience, and an expo of marine conservation groups. SeaKeepers attended to strengthen our partnership with the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation, which previously led to a collaborative expedition in the Florida Keys and a featured guest on our podcast Voyages of DISCOVERY. Season 2 of the podcast launched at CHOW, with the NMSF helping promote it through flyers and stickers at the event. This conference remains valuable for bringing emerging ocean issues to the frontlines and for highlighting the urgent need for continued support of marine sanctuaries.
