Growing up close to the sea and traveling to different coastal areas in Brazil, Alessandra developed a passion and deep understanding of the oceans’ importance from a young age. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences and a Master’s degree in Aquatic Biodiversity, specializing in the cause and impact of jellyfish blooms. She was a biology teacher in Brazil, where she realized the importance of educating others to help protect the oceans. She’s currently based in Auckland-NZ, where she joined the SeaKeepers’ team as the Program Assistant for the South Pacific chapter, while pursuing a PhD in Marine Science at Auckland University. With her teaching and scientific background, she aims to raise awareness and promote marine research.
