Junior SeaKeepers 25-26 Workshop 2: Evaluating Scientific Literature

On October 28, 2025, The International SeaKeepers Society hosted our second virtual workshop for our 2025-26 Junior SeaKeepers cohort. We were lucky enough to be joined by Ms. Ann Campbell, a librarian with more than 15 years of experience working for the University of Miami’s libraries as a student mentor and librarian. She led an interactive workshop with our students meant to expose them to the world of scientific literature and databases to prepare them for their research projects later in the year. Ann shared some common pitfalls, some practices to emulate and specific buzz words or ideas to focus in on when reading and searching for research articles. Our amazing students were also able to ask Ann plenty of questions about their specific databases of choice, and even brainstorm some project ideas to use as examples and practice doing article searches for. We are immensely thankful to Ann for making the time to come meet with our students, and to our JSKs as always for joining us and for their great questions!
