Junior SeaKeepers Webinar 5: Science on the High Seas with Captain S. Davis Alford
- December 9, 2025
- Miami, Florida
Project Overview
On December 9th, 2025, The International SeaKeepers Society hosted our fifth webinar experience of the 2025-26 Junior SeaKeepers Program. For this webinar, we were immensely lucky and grateful to be joined by Captain S. Davis Alford, A SeaKeepers partner vessel captain and at-sea researcher. Captain Davis shared a multitude of stories and experiences from his life spent doing research and living on a vessel as well as what life as a sea captain looks like on a daily basis. Captain Davis and his vessel, DISCOVERY Vessel Robert Gray, have touched multiple oceans and worked with a vast array of projects and scientists throughout their tenure, giving Captain Davis a massive skill set and one that our Junior SeaKeepers were excited to learn about. Throughout the webinar our students were extremely engaged, asking plenty of questions and even staying late to ask a few final ones about Captain Davis’ personal experiences. We give a huge thank you to Captain Davis for joining us, and to our JSKs for their fantastic work and questions!
