- March 5, 2026
- Auckland, New Zealand
Event Overview
On the 5th of March, 2026, Melissa White, Director of SeaKeepers South Pacific, and Rosie Fowler, Development Director, attended the Women in Marine event held as part of the Auckland Boat Show. The event was designed to bring together women from across the marine sector to share experiences, build connections, and highlight opportunities for greater participation and leadership within the industry.
The session was hosted by MC Nicky Vaux, a marina entrepreneur, boating advocate and host of The Boat Princess podcast. The panel featured a group of accomplished speakers from across the marine and sailing industries, including Olympic gold medal sailor Jo Aleh, Hillary Buckman, Managing Director of Ocean Media, and Isabell Zitzelsberger, founder of Wild Chix. Each speaker shared their personal experiences working in the marine sector and spoke about navigating challenges, building confidence, and supporting other women entering the industry.
For SeaKeepers South Pacific, the event provided a valuable opportunity to connect with women across the wider marine community and engage in conversations around sustainability, leadership, and the future of the industry. During the event, Melissa and Rosie also had the chance to reconnect with several existing partners and meet new potential collaborators who share an interest in ocean conservation and marine stewardship. Events like this help strengthen relationships within the sector while continuing to highlight the growing role of women contributing to the marine industry.
