Oceanology International 2026
- March 11, 2026
- London, UK
Event Overview
On March 11, 2026, The International SeaKeepers Society attended Oceanology International – an industry and world leading ocean technology and marine science conference held biennially in London, UK. SeaKeepers had the opportunity to explore how novel technologies are advancing ocean exploration and discovery, and where SeaKeepers DISCOVERY Fleet can provide valuable at-sea platforms in support. As part of the Seabed 2030 sessions, SeaKeepers presented about how the private yachting and boating community contributes valuable data to the Nippon Foundation-GEBCO Seabed 2030 Project, which aims to map the entire global ocean seafloor by 2030. To date, over 250 SeaKeepers DISCOVERY Vessels have recorded over 122 million depth soundings across 6/7 continents in support of this mission – a significant effort that complements the work of various other partner institutions, including fellow presenters Colleen Peters, Kongsberg Discovery; Marco Filiponne, Fugro; Kate Larkin, EModNET; Charles Chiau, Bedrock Ocean Exploration; and Brian Connon, Saildrone. These sessions truly showcased the indispensability of collaboration if the Seabed 2030 Project’s considerable aim is to be reached. While at Oceanology International, SeaKeepers also met with many current research collaborators to discuss how we can expand our partnerships in 2026, including Francesco Ferretti, Virginia Tech; Chiara Gambardella, Università Politecnica delle Marche.
The International SeaKeepers Society attended Oceanology International to learn more about the developments taking place in the marine science and technology field, present as part of the Seabed 2030 sessions about how the DISCOVERY Fleet are supporting their mission to map the global ocean seafloor by 2030, and to meet with both current and future programme partners. This event proved highly successful for SeaKeepers UK, and the team look forward to attending again in 2028.
