Event Overview

On March 12, 2026, The International SeaKeepers Society attended the The Yacht Harbour Association (TYHA) Code of Practice Tour 2026 at Suffolk Yacht Harbour, Ipswich, UK. Alongside other TYHA members and guests, SeaKeepers were invited to learn more about TYHA’s revised Code of Practice and how marinas can ensure both safety and legislative compliance at their facilities. Alongside the technical information and guidance, the updated revision includes considerable references to eco-friendly practices, such as making every effort to separate marina waste to ensure sustainable disposal. This emphasis on improving environmental health is encouraging to see, as it will enable marinas across the UK and beyond to take simple steps to better protect their local habitats. From a marine perspective, this guidance is especially beneficial as marinas are perfectly placed to encourage the oceangoing community to better protect their local waterways and subsequently make long-lasting, positive change. At the briefing, SeaKeepers also had the opportunity to tour Suffolk Yacht Harbour and explore how they plan to become a more self-sustaining marina, while also learning about their current on-site education and manufacturing operations.

The International SeaKeepers Society attended The Yacht Harbour Association Code of Practice Tour 2026 at Suffolk Yacht Harbour to learn more about marina operations and how the revised guidance relates to improving environmental awareness and protecting marine habitats. Alongside this, SeaKeepers connected with potential new Marine Programme partners and other leading organisations that can support the expansion and development of the DISCOVERY Programme in the east of England.
