Project Overview

The International Junior SeaKeepers Programme (IJSKP) 2025 marked a meaningful beginning for a new generation of ocean stewards in Singapore. As an inaugural pilot, it brought together 30 students from 10 schools from May to November, immersing them in marine conservation. Through expert-led webinars and workshops, students explored real environmental challenges, guided by marine scientists and conservationists.

A key highlight was the PSA (Public Service Announcement) project, completed at the end of the programme. Working largely independently from June and supported through structured guidance, students translated their learning into action. Each team developed a scientific poster grounded in the scientific method—featuring a hypothesis, problem, and solution and produced a 3–5 minute video demonstrating real-world application.

Support kicked off with a scientific method workshop and follow-up check-ins in June and July that helped refine ideas. Students explored topics such as algae blooms, microplastics, pollution, and public perceptions of marine conservation.

The culmination was both celebratory and inspiring: their work was showcased at The Ocean Collective Summit 2025, with one outstanding video selected for the Earth in Focus Film Festival—amplifying student voices on a global stage.
