Project Overview

The International Junior SeaKeepers Asia , 2026 field visit to Sisters’ Islands Marine Park on 28 February brought together student participants, teachers, and facilitators for an engaging and educational outdoor learning experience. Sisterโ€™s Island was designated a marine protected area of Singapore in 2014.

The group assembled at Marina South Pier, embarking on the ferry journey to the island. Upon arrival at the marine park, participants were welcomed and introduced to the siteโ€™s unique ecosystems and conservation significance within Singapore. A key highlight of the programme was the scavenger hunt, where students worked in small groups to explore coastal and intertidal habitats. They identified features such as mangroves and the rich biodiversity on the island while documenting their observations through notes and photos taken. This hands-on activity encouraged curiosity, teamwork, and environmental awareness.

The session concluded with a group discussion and debrief, where students shared their findings and reflected on the importance of marine biodiversity and conservation efforts. The experience reinforced responsible behaviour in natural environments, emphasising safety, respect for wildlife, and environmental stewardship.
Overall, the visit provided a meaningful opportunity for experiential learning, fostering a deeper appreciation for Singaporeโ€™s rich marine ecosystems and the collective role individuals play in protecting them.
