SeaKeepers and Coral Sea Marina Host Ocean-Themed Trivia Night
- July 30, 2026
- Airlie Beach, Australia
Event Overview
On July 30th, 2026, SeaKeepers South Pacific and Coral Sea Marina co-hosted an ocean-themed trivia night in Airlie Beach, bringing together eight women from the local boating community for an evening of learning, connection, and friendly competition. The event was designed to create a fun and engaging way to introduce recreational boaters to marine conservation and demonstrate how they can contribute to meaningful citizen science while enjoying time on the water.
During the intermission, Haley Davis, SeaKeepers’ Data Scientist, gave a presentation highlighting the range of citizen science opportunities available through SeaKeepers and how local boaters can become involved in supporting ocean conservation. Following the presentation, three participants signed up to take part in the Coral Watch program, where they will help monitor coral health by collecting data on coral bleaching during their time on the water.
The evening concluded with an exciting finish, with the top two teams tied on points and an expert-level tie-breaker needed to determine the overall winner. Participants took home prizes from the SeaKeepers Sustainability Kits, while the winning team received a beautifully illustrated coffee table book generously donated by Coral Sea Marina. The event was a fantastic opportunity to strengthen connections within the local boating community, inspire new citizen scientists, and continue growing awareness of the important role recreational boaters can play in protecting our oceans.
