SeaKeepers at the OceanX Summit 2026
- October 7 - 9, 2026
- OceanXplorer, Singapore
Event Overview
From the 7-9th of October, 2026, Melissa White, Director of SeaKeepers South Pacific, and Gail Tay Director of SeaKeepers Asia attended the OceanX Summit in Singapore, joining three days of discussions on ocean exploration, education and conservation.
Held aboard the research vessel OceanXplorer, the summit brought together scientists, educators, conservation organisations, technology developers and funders to explore how their work can contribute to a healthier ocean. The programme centred on education, leadership, ocean science, the blue economy and collaboration.
Highlights included talks by ocean explorer and filmmaker James Cameron and oceanographer Dr Sylvia Earle, who shared their perspectives on discovery, storytelling and ocean protection. Other sessions explored new research technologies, coral reef restoration, community-led conservation and the use of digital and immersive experiences to make ocean science more accessible.
For SeaKeepers, the summit provided a valuable opportunity to strengthen existing partnerships and build new relationships across the Asia Pacific region. Conversations opened up opportunities to share digital education resources, support researchers through vessel access and expand collaboration in citizen science and coral conservation.
Attending together also allowed the South Pacific and Asia teams to explore opportunities that could benefit programmes across both regions. SeaKeepers came away with promising connections and practical avenues for follow-up, supporting the continued growth of its research, education and community engagement work.
