Biscayne Bay Experience with Blue Scholars Initiative
Key Biscayne, Florida

December 2020

On December 12th, 2020 SeaKeepers partnered with with the Blue Scholars Initiative to host a "Biscayne Bay Experience" as part of their Giving Bay Day campaign! The event started early in the morning with a 7 mile paddle around Virginia Key led by Adam Steckley of the Blue Scholars Initiative, where 12 participants battled wind and waves to enjoy the beautiful views of the bay. At 10am, SeaKeepers started a beach cleanup on Hobie beach, where 51 amazing volunteers removed 107 lbs of trash from the area. The goal of this event was to appreciate the beauty of Biscayne Bay and give back by removing marine debris, and we were certainly successful! With this cleanup, SeaKeepers has removed 2259 lbs of trash from this beach since July 2019. We are grateful for our awesome volunteers and their dedication to keeping the bay beautiful.
