Clipper Race Environmental Programming at Fremantle Stopover

Purpose of Research

The International SeaKeepers Society (SeaKeepers) recently attended the Fremantle stopover during which they engaged the Clipper Race vessels in several Citizen Science projects. We would like to recognize the following DISCOVERY Vessels for their involvement in said Citizen Science initiatives throughout their journey through the Atlantic and Indian Oceans beginning in August 2025. As Clipper’s official Marine Research Partner, we are honored to have contributed to environmental engagement and education opportunities for these sailors both on their boats, and from the shore. These meaningful expeditions do not require scientists onboard and instead rely on community participation to contribute to ongoing oceanographic research and environmental monitoring efforts.

Throughout this engagement, crew members searched for Marine Debris for Marine Debris Tracker, went on a Great Eggcase Hunt, and offloaded more than 60,000 data files containing Bathymetric data for Seabed2030.

We would also like to thank our partners at Echo Yachts for conducting a behind the scenes tour of their shipyard for Clipper crew and SeaKeepers staff, presenting their progress on creating the world’s largest sailing catamaran.

Seabed 2030 Project

The following DISCOVERY Vessels enrolled in support of the Seabed 2030 initiative, helping to map the ocean floor in support of The Nippon Foundation-GEBCO Seabed 2030 Project.
