Dive Against Debris with Sea Experience

Event Overview
On Saturday, June 14, 2026, The International SeaKeepers Society partnered with Sea Experience for another Dive Against Debris underwater cleanup off the coast of Fort Lauderdale. Sea Experience is a dive shop located in Fort Lauderdale that has been awarded the PADI Green Star to commemorate their efforts and dedication to conservation and identify them as a dive shop that cares about our coastal environment and actively takes steps to protect it. This month, we were joined by eight volunteer divers who descended with mesh bags to collect any trash they spotted beneath the waves. Due to strong currents below the surface, we altered our usual dive plan and descended at Third Reef, where we drifted along the 60โ deep reef line. The strong current made trash collection difficult, but our volunteers came back up with one glass bottle and got to see a large sea turtle on the reef! After a short surface interval, we descended once again at The Caves, where we descended about 30โ and drifted North along the reef. This section of the reef looked fairly clean, besides an abandoned spear that we removed from the sand, and we were able to see lots of coral, fish, and lobster. As usual, we ended the cleanup with a raffle for all the cleanup participants, giving away reef-safe sunscreen, a goody bag, and even a brand new pair of fins! We are so grateful to all the volunteers who helped us leave our reefs a bit cleaner, with over 5 pounds of trash collected from these sites. Thank you to Sea Experience for their partnership, and we are looking forward to collaborating next month for Womenโs Dive Day!
