Monthly Beach Cleanup
- July 27, 2019
- Key Biscayne, Florida
Event Overview
On July 27th, 2019, SeaKeepers hosted itโs monthly beach cleanup on Key Biscayne. 12 volunteers attended and removed 54 pounds of trash from the beach! Most of the garbage found was cigarette butts, plastic and foam pieces, plastic bottle caps, food wrappers, and plastic bottles. The cleanup findings were documented on The Ocean Conservancyโs application โClean Swellโ where it then goes into the worldโs largest ocean trash dataset. The data helps researchers and policymakers identify trends and create solutions. With this cleanup, SeaKeepers has officially removed 155.5 pounds of trash from this beach since June! We look forward to expanding our partnerships with local schools and businesses to conserve our local beaches and waters. Thank you to all of our volunteers!
