SeaKeepers at SharkCon 2026
- July 18 - 19, 2026
- Tampa, Florida
Event Overview
Over the weekend of July 18-19, 2026, The International SeaKeepers was thrilled to attend SharkCon 2026 in Tampa, Florida. Our Citizen Science Manager, Rosie, and Educational Outreach Manager, Jack, set up a table partnered with our peers at Shark Docs where we worked to promote SeaKeepers opportunities in educational outreach, encourage citizen science participation, and engage with the public in various shark-themed educational activities. Throughout our time at the convention, our team was able to engage with more than 150 students and 200 educators/fellow conservation professionals of various attending organizations, sharing SeaKeepers’ mission and fostering new partnership opportunities to collaborate in the future. Our team was also able to network amongst other organizations in attendance, learning new ideas and garnering support into SeaKeepers projects all over the world. In addition, SeaKeepers’ Citizen Science Manager, Rosie, was honored as one of the guest speakers this year, where she spoke on her experiences as a marine scientist as well as shared information and answered questions about ongoing citizen science projects with added focus places on the Shark Trust project. Our team also attended several other guest speaker performances throughout the weekend, hearing from local experts and peers in the marine science world on their work. We give an immense thank you to the team at SharkCon for hosting such an amazing event, our peers at Shark Docs for partnering with us to share resources with the public and foster engagement among attendees, and we look forward to hopefully attending next year’s festivities!
