The discussion highlighted the importance of supporting ocean research, particularly in remote and under-sampled regions. The speakers emphasised how expedition yachts can act as effective platforms for scientific research, contributing valuable data during routine voyages. Emily Cunningham MBE reinforced the value of citizen science, highlighting how simple data collection at sea can contribute to long-term conservation efforts.

The International SeaKeepers Society attended the Captain’s Forum to learn from expert speakers and meet leading captains actively supporting ocean science and innovation. The discussion closed with a clear message, every journey at sea can support scientific discovery. By turning transit time into meaningful data collection, the global yachting community can actively support marine research and help protect the future of our oceans.
