- London, United Kingdom
Event Overview
On January 13, 2026 The International SeaKeepers Society attended an evening at the Little Ship Club to learn more about individual-led ocean advocacy and exploration through a talk by Ella Hibbert, widely known as Ella in the Arctic. A DISCOVERY Programme member, Ella shared her experiences from 2025, when she completed the first stage of her ambition to become the first woman to achieve a single-handed circumnavigation of the Arctic Circle. She reflected on the extreme challenges she faced and explained how her voyage supported Seabed 2030 and SeaKeepers’ citizen science initiatives. The event was attended alongside Little Ship Club President Mike Golding OBE, Alexandra Henry, and Lewis M. Macdonald, and highlighted the role of personal expeditions in advancing ocean research and conservation.
Attending the event allowed SeaKeepers to celebrate a DISCOVERY Programme member’s achievements, showcase the contribution of individual sailors to scientific initiatives, and highlight how personal expeditions further ocean research and conservation. The organisation looks forward to following Ella’s return to the Arctic later this year as she completes her challenge.
