- London, United Kingdom
Event Overview
On October 2, 2025, The International SeaKeepers Society joined the joint Hull Committee’s Yacht Sub-Committee forum at Lloyd’s, where yacht and hull practitioners gathered for a panel discussion on helicopter operations and safety aboard superyachts. The event brought together leading experts to address the risks, regulations, and best practices surrounding helicopter use in the superyacht sector. Moderated by Calvin Gray, President of Global Marine, Intact Insurance Specialty Solutions, the panel featured expert contributions from Simon Groves of Inserve Risk Engineering, Julian Smith of the Cayman Islands Shipping Registry, Captain Simon Jones, Adam Jackson of Assure Yachts, and Jonathan Turner of Maritime Aviation. Their perspectives provided valuable guidance on operational safety, compliance, and risk management for vessels with aviation capabilities.
The International SeaKeepers Society attended the forum to gain insights into helicopter operations to support the DISCOVERY Programme, which are increasingly vital for supporting scientific expeditions in remote regions. As SeaKeepers continues to collaborate with researchers who require both helicopter and submarine access, understanding the associated risks ensures that future projects are conducted safely. SeaKeepers extends sincere thanks to its Corporate DISCOVERY Program Partner, Intact, for the invitation, and special thanks are also given to the panelists for their expertise and insights.
