Classroom Lesson Series with St. Anthony Catholic School

Project Overview
On the morning of March 30th, 2026, The International SeaKeepers Society visited St. Anthony Catholic School for a four-class lesson series with 113 5th and 6th grade students as well as 10 educators. Throughout the day, we hosted activities and discussion for four separate classes, two fifth grade and two sixth grade courses. With each class, our Education team led an interactive discussion on food webs, animal relations, and comparative physiology of key animal groups including mammals, sea birds, fish, and invertebrates. After our introductory discussion, we split each group of students into breakout sessions to play a game and practice their identification skills with our activity, Creatures from the Beach. Students made observations about animal physiology, made inferences about their behavior and niche, and even figured out distinguishing traits of key animal groups from one another. We had an amazing day working with the students of St. Anthony and we give a huge thanks to the incredible educators for facilitating and hosting us, and we hope to work with them all again in the near future!
