- March 4, 2026
- Napier, New Zealand
Project Overview
On March 4, 2026, Alessandra Vallim, Programme Manager for the South Pacific presented at Sacred Heart College in Napier. The session, organised and facilitated in partnership with the National Aquarium of New Zealand, welcomed 22 students for an engaging introduction to SeaKeepers and the vital work being done to protect our oceans.
The presentation explored key ocean topics, with a particular focus on estuaries, their ecological importance, their role in supporting biodiversity, and the wide range of species that depend on these unique environments. Students learned how estuaries act as critical habitats and nurseries for marine life, as well as their significance within broader coastal ecosystems.
The group was highly engaged throughout the session, with students asking thoughtful questions and showing genuine curiosity about ocean conservation and marine science. It was a valuable opportunity to inspire awareness and deepen understanding of the natural environments that play such an essential role in sustaining life both above and below the water.
