Final Session of the IJSK 2025 UK Cohort
- December 2,2025
- Witley, Surrey
Project Overview
On December 2, 2025, The International SeaKeepers Society joined students of King Edward’s School Witley for the final session of the International Junior SeaKeepers (IJSK) UK cohort. This programme offers students the unique opportunity to learn from marine science experts, participate in conservation projects, and develop scientific literacy, leadership skills, and the confidence to advocate for ocean protection within their communities. Group one shared their YouTube channel that they created to dispel common misconceptions about sharks and highlight why these animals are vital, yet vulnerable, members of the ocean ecosystem. In contrast, group two presented their outline for a children’s storybook that features three endangered species working together to tackle the challenges of climate change. They hope to publish this book and are fully supported by the school. These projects reflected topics and ideas that the students had explored through the webinars they attended during the IJSK programme, showcasing their engagement in the sessions.
The International Seakeepers Society visited the IJSK UK cohort to celebrate the completion of the 2025 pilot programme and watch their final project presentations. Their work demonstrated both creativity and a thoughtful understanding of global marine issues. SeaKeepers extend their thanks to the students and staff at King Edwards Witley for their support and engagement in the pilot International Junior SeaKeepers Programme in the UK, and wish the students the very best of luck as they continue to refine and complete their projects.
