JSK Workshop 1: Intro to the Scientific Method

JSK 26 27 Workshop 1 (1)

Project Overview

On Tuesday, October 20, 2026, The International SeaKeepers Society hosted the first workshop of the Junior SeaKeepers 2026-27 cohort. This workshop aimed at personal and professional development for students ahead of the year-long program, allowing them to dip their toes in use of the scientific method to conduct and present quality research. We started the workshop by discussing the purpose and origins of the scientific method, and why it is the standard for conducting scientific research. Using specific examples from staff and previous cohorts, our students were able to get a glimpse of the skills needed to build their end of year research projects. These skills will be developed further throughout our many webinars and workshops as they collect the tools needed throughout their academic careers. We are beyond excited for what amazing project ideas our Junior SeaKeepers start to come up with as we move forward!
