Junior SeaKeepers Webinar 3: Katie Sheahan – Science Communication
- November 6, 2025
- Miami, Florida
Project Overview
On Thursday November 6th, 2025, The International SeaKeepers Society hosted our second official webinar of the Junior SeaKeepers 2025-26 year. We were lucky enough to be joined by Kate Sheahan, SeaKeepers’ Science Liaison as well as expert science communicator! Katie is someone who throughout her time with SeaKeepers has been able to meet a vast variety of scientists and professionals as well as work to inspire change and passion in the general public for all things marine science, and our JSKs were excited to learn all about her experiences and expertise. Katie discussed the best ways to tailor scientific findings by the intended audience, how to properly take evocative photos of scientific observations, and engaged the JSKs with plenty of questions and opportunities to express their knowledge as well. Our Junior SeaKeepers asked some hard-hitting questions and Katie was kind enough to stay late and answer them all, which we and the students are immensely grateful for as well. We give an immense thank you to Katie for joining us and to the JSKs for their hard work and great questions as always!
