Junior SeaKeepers Webinar 8: Manta Watch New Zealand
- March 10, 2026
- Miami, Florida
Project Overview
On March 10, 2026, The International SeaKeepers Society hosted our eighth webinar of the 2025-26 cohort of Junior SeaKeepers. We were extremely fortunate and lucky to be joined by Sanaa Nair, a Research Assistant and MSc student with Manta Watch New Zealand. Sanaa and the team at Manta Watch are a group of both highly accomplished and dedicated marine scientists focused on manta and devil ray research as well as stewards for and advocates of oceanic conservation in Pacific waters all over the world. Through various research projects including tagging and drone surveys as well as education of students and the general public, Sanaa and Manta Watch have worked with SeaKeepers for years to push manta ray and general marine conservation in critical, sustained ways internationally. For this webinar, Sanaa gave a fantastic presentation where covered her own experiences with Manta Watch and as a marine scientist, offered some career advice for our aspiring JSKs, and took plenty of questions for our curious students following her presentation. Our JSKs had some great questions and many expressed interest in speaking with and doing their part to help Sanaa and Manta Watch in the future! We give a massive thank you to Sanaa for joining us and for all of the incredible work she does and to our JSKs as always for their hard work and questions, and we look forward to continuing to work with Manta Watch New Zealand in the near future!
