Virtual Lesson with Stanfield Elementary

Project Overview
On January 6th, 2026, The International SeaKeepers Society hosted a virtual lesson with 3 students and 1 educator from Stanfield Elementary. Our educational outreach team led an interactive discussion and presentation centered on trophic ecology, with the most extensive focus and deep dive into apex predators such as sharks and orcas. Despite Stanfield Elementary being far from any oceans, the students quickly and often impressed us with their knowledge on physiology of these predators as well as how several key oceanic habitats function on a very intricate level. Following our presentation, we took the time to field questions on all things SeaKeepers and marine science, which led to a fun discussion on various topics including recognizing individual orcas based on key physical characteristics. We give a huge thanks to the students of Stanfield Elementary for a great discussion and hope to work with them again soon!
