Growing up close to the sea and traveling to different coastal areas in Brazil, Alessandra developed a passion and deep understanding of the oceans’ importance from a young age. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences and a Master’s degree in Aquatic Biodiversity, specializing in the cause and impact of jellyfish blooms. She was a biology teacher in Brazil, where she realized the importance of educating others to help protect the oceans. She’s currently based in Auckland, New Zealand, where she joined the SeaKeepers team as Programme Assistant to the Programme Manager for the South Pacific Chapter, while pursuing a PhD in Marine Science at Auckland University. With her teaching and scientific experience, she is committed to raising awareness and promoting marine research.
