Vice Chair
Patty Elkus is an active ocean advocate and global catalyst based in Northern California. Patty’s global non-profit ocean advocacy leadership includes serving 16 years on the Director's Council at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, now Emeritus. Current board positions include The International SeaKeepers Society. Patty is a Founding Member, Vice Chair, Co-Founder of the "DISCOVERY Yacht Program" and represents SeaKeepers in the Pink Flamingo Society founded by The Schmidt Ocean Institute. Patty serves on the tba21Academy Advisory Council and is a reefline Miami Ambassador. Past Board positions include Founding Chair of Environmental/Social Justice programming for the San Diego International Film Festival. Exec. Board for Sylvia Earles’ MISSION BLUE, Founding Chair of ISKS "Women in Yachting and Ocean Advocacy" and the BLUE Ocean Film Festival Global Advisory Council. Patty's focus is oceanographic science/the environment, marine protected areas, and emerging technology. A Member National of the Explorers Club, she was a member of the Elkus/Munk Explorers Cub Flag Expedition to Cabo Pulmo, the Jackson/Elkus Explorers Club Flag Expedition to Komodo, and the SIO CMBC San Diego Coastal Expedition with Dr. Lisa Levin.
