Overview
SeaKeepers Asia joined the Seabed 2030 team at the Marine & Hydro Asia Show during Geo Connect Asia 2025. As the region’s premier geospatial and location intelligence event, GeoConnect Asia—held annually in Singapore—serves as a vital platform for thought leaders, innovators, and changemakers to explore the latest in geospatial advancements, sustainability efforts, and environmental intelligence.
Themed “Geospatial Driven Impacts: Underground, Land and Sea to Sky,” GeoConnect Asia 2025 delivered insightful discussions and showcased cutting-edge innovations across multiple industries. The event also hosted Digital Construction Asia, Drones & Uncrewed Asia, and Marine & Hydro Asia, showcasing the diverse applications of geospatial technology.
SeaKeepers has long championed the use of science and data in marine conservation. During GeoConnect Asia 2025, we highlighted our Citizen Science Programme in support of the Seabed 2030 project. Through our Discovery Yacht Program, participating vessels collect and contribute valuable bathymetric data during their routine journeys, helping to advance global ocean mapping efforts.
The Seabed 2030 Project, led by The Nippon Foundation and GEBCO, aims to map the entire ocean floor by 2030. This initiative will enhance our understanding of marine environments and address global issues like climate change, biodiversity loss, and rising sea levels. GEBCO collaborates internationally under the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) and UNESCO's Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC).
The benefits of being at GeoConnect this year were both immediate and long-term. We connected with global stakeholders, including hydrographic agencies, maritime tech developers, and regional governments, forming new alliances that will help scale our mission across Asia-Pacific. More importantly, our presence helped raise awareness within the geospatial community about the ocean's crucial role in the planet’s health and the urgent need for comprehensive ocean mapping.
