SeaKeepers South Pacific Leads Coastal Cleanup in Fiji
Nadi, Fiji
November 8, 2024
Overview
On November 8th, The International SeaKeepers Society hosted a coastal cleanup at Wailoaloa Beach in Nadi, Fiji. Known for its beautiful sunsets, and close proximity to the city, local hotels and restaurants, Wailoaloa Beach stretches about 3 kilometers and attracts many tourists visiting Nadi.
Equipped with trash bags and gloves, our SeaKeepers team were joined by 3 dedicated volunteers from the local community who were eager to help preserve this iconic beach. In just an hour and a half, we collected five full bags of debris, including glass and plastic bottles, flip-flops, cans, cigarette butts, bottle caps, and plastic utensils. All items were responsibly disposed of at a city collection site.
We’re proud of the community members who came together for our very first coastal cleanup in Fiji, contributing to the health of our oceans and protecting a beloved spot for both locals and visitors.
