As part of the relationship with the marine research-focused nonprofit, SeaKeepers, scientists will maintain an onsite presence at the development’s property in the Ocean-side town of Golfito, Costa Rica
MIAMI, FL (January 15, 2016) – The facilitation and subsequent support of pivotal marine biology research is being buoyed in Costa Rica by a unique partnership that’s unfolding along the country’s Southern Pacific Coast.
Golfito Marina Village and Resort — a new 40-acre luxury development and Blue-flag marina being built in the ocean-side town of Golfito — is proud to announce its support of The International SeaKeepers Society, a not-for-profit organization, which focuses on the health of the world’s oceans and climate.
As part of the burgeoning relationship, Golfito Marina Village & Resort will supplement the shipment of a SeaKeepers “wet lab” container in the weeks ahead from the SeaKeepers headquarters in Miami, Florida to Golfito, Costa Rica. Once in place on the development’s property, a team of researchers and scientists from the University of Florida will begin using the 40-foot lab to conduct important biodiversity research. Their studies will include a range of endeavors, including the sampling of small marine
species, the sequencing of DNA genomes, and to determine what key findings can be gleaned for pharmaceutical needs.
