11th Annual World Ocean Summit and Expo

Overview

During March 11-13th, 2024, The International SeaKeepers Society's Science Liaison, Katie Sheahan attended the World Ocean Summit and Expo in Lisbon, Portugal hosted by The Economist Impact. Leading researchers and marine industry personnel from around the world attended this event, including Sylvia Earle, Fabien Cousteau, and Nippon Foundation President Jumpei Sasakawa, among hundreds of others making substantial progress for global ocean conservation. Katie attended panels focused on marine science, sustainable fishing, ethical yachting practices, and more. The expo was an opportunity to meet with scientists, learn about new ocean technologies, and network with marine industry partners. SeaKeepers looks forward to attending the next World Ocean Summit in 2025 hosted by one of Seabed 2030's founders, The Nippon Foundation.
