Eco Fair Tabling with Ransom Everglades School
Miami, Florida
April 23, 2025
Overview
On April 23rd, 2025, The International SeaKeepers Society partnered with Ransom Everglades School in Miami to attend the Eco Fair of the school’s science symposium. Our Community Engagement Associate, Lillian, and our Educational Outreach Associate, Jack, arrived and set up a table full of activities, free SeaKeepers items, and ways for students and parents alike to get involved all over South Florida. Over the course of the evening, more than 60 people from Ransom students and parents to teachers and the general public stopped by our table and participated in our games such as ocean trivia-themed Jenga and an interactive discussion on the plastic pollution in coral reefs problem complete with harvested microplastic samples and coral skeletons we obtained from the shores of various beaches we regularly visit. Many of the students participating in the symposium at Ransom Everglades are hopeful scientists, so a great deal of them were excited to ask and answer questions and even take information on how to get involved with SeaKeepers through cleanups and the Junior SeaKeepers program. We give a huge thank you to the amazing team of Ransom Everglades for hosting us, to the other participating organizations for joining such a fun event, and to all the students for their hard work. We hope to see some of the students at future SeaKeepers events!
