Beach Cleanup and Tap Takeover at The Wetlab

Overview

On Wednesday, October 18th, The International SeaKeepers Society partnered with Miami Waterkeeper, Debris Free Oceans, Rescue a Reef, The CLEO Institute, Tripping Animals Brewing, OFF SITE Nano Brewery, Dream State Brewery, and Cottonmouth Water to host a beach cleanup and Tap Takeover at The Wetlab. SeaKeepers set up a table at The Wetlab alongside Miami Waterkeeper, The Rounds and Rescue a Reef and The CLEO Institute to encourage attendees to come learn about the work our organizations do and sign up to get involved. When most of our volunteers arrived, Miami Waterkeeper and Debris Free Oceans kicked off the beach cleanup with a safety briefing and sent our volunteers off to collect as much trash from the beach outside as possible. We were joined by about 20 volunteers who collected over 138 pounds of trash in just one hour. After the cleanup, the attendees were encouraged to engage with the community organizations tabling and to take advantage of the Tap Takeover sponsored by Tripping Animals, OFF SITE, and Dream State, with $1 of each beer purchased from our sponsors donated to Miami Waterkeeper and Debris Free Oceans.
