Beach Cleanup with Kids Hive
October 2019

On October 26th, 2019, SeaKeepers hosted Kids Hive for a beach cleanup on Key Biscayne. 69 volunteers attended and removed 170 pounds of trash from the beach! Most of the garbage found was cigarette butts, plastic and foam pieces, plastic bottle caps, food wrappers, and plastic bottles. The cleanup findings were documented on The Ocean Conservancy’s application “Clean Swell” where it then goes into the world’s largest ocean trash dataset. The data helps researchers and policymakers identify trends and create solutions. With this cleanup, SeaKeepers has officially removed 802 pounds of trash from this beach since June! We look forward to expanding our partnerships with local schools and businesses to conserve our local beaches and waters. Thank you to all of our volunteers!
