Capitol Hill Ocean Week 2024

Washington, D.C.
June 4-6, 2024

From June 4th-6th, SeaKeepers' Science Liaison, Katie, attended Capitol Hill Ocean Week hosted by the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation in Washington, D.C. The conference was held in the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center and consisted of an extensive expo, a series of panel discussions, and the Ocean Awards Gala at D.C.’s Union Station where ocean leaders, such as Dr. Enric Sala of Pristine Seas, were honored for their dedication to protecting our oceans. Katie also attended the 3rd day of the National Workshop on Marine eDNA and the launch of the CIRCLE Alliance (Catalyzing Inclusive, Resilient, and Circular Local Economies) at the United States Capitol Visitors Center. SeaKeepers attends scientific conferences around the world to connect with the scientific community, learn about emerging technologies and practices, and enhance our ability to develop projects that are scientifically viable with lasting positive impacts in marine conservation.
