Classroom Presentation for FIU Undergraduate Literature Students
Miami, Florida
February 10, 2025
Overview
On Monday, February 10th, 2025, The International SeaKeepers Society's Director of Marketing & PR, Ivonne Gamboa, and Director of Education & Outreach, Toni Lohroff, attended a literature class at Florida International University as a part of an ongoing community project with Dr. Marta Gierczyk's Writing & Rhetoric Community Partnerships courses.
For our introductory visit, SeaKeepers gave a presentation to participating students that covered all aspects of our programming, how we engage the different communities we work with, and the goals that we aim to meet through our local and global programming. Through the Spring semester, students will use this presentation as well as information from our website and marketing materials to create nonprofit supporting materials like technical reports, educational infographics, training videos, and more that can help SeaKeepers continue to expand our community worldwide. This was a particularly great opportunity for students to ask questions about our organization and what needs we have to better serve the local Miami-Dade community. We hope that this presentation was a good introduction to SeaKeepers for participating FIU students and that we can continue to inspire them to support and act for marine conservation today and in the future through this collaborative partnership.
