On Thursday, October 30th, The International SeaKeepers Society will host its annual Founders Event to celebrate the love of the oceans during the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. An evening to honor Jimmy Buffett as the 2025 SeaKeeper of the Year, and Emily Cunningham as the 2025 NextGen Awardee will be the highlights of the evening. The DISCOVERY Fleet, which has supported programming throughout the year will also be recognized.
JIMMY BUFFETT
2025 SEAKEEPER OF THE YEAR
Jimmy Buffett was a legendary singer-songwriter and “tropical troubadour” whose music captured the spirit of coastal living and a life well-traveled. Born in Pascagoula, Mississippi and raised in Mobile, Alabama, he blended storytelling, humor, and escapism to create timeless songs about pirates, beach bums, and dreamers. His passion for ocean adventure and marine conservation was as deep as his lyrics, supporting efforts to protect coral reefs, manatees, and the seas he loved. Over five decades, Buffett left an indelible mark on music, pop culture, and the natural world through his artistry and advocacy.

SeaKeepers proudly acknowledges the vessels that supported our programming in 2025. We invite you to explore the different chapters below to see the many types of activities and the vessels that contributed to our impact this year.
ACCOMMODATIONS
As a courtesy to our out-of-town guests, SeaKeepers is pleased to be able to offer a limited number of rooms on a first come, first served basis. To secure a room, please follow the reservations process as outlined via phone and online. Direct reservations must be made prior to Monday, October 6, 2025. After this date, any unreserved rooms will be considered canceled and may be released by Pier Sixty-Six Resort for general sale.
