FTL Beach Cleanup's Educational FUNKtion

Overview

On Tuesday, June 20th, 2023, The International SeaKeepers Society was invited to be the headline speaker at a fundraiser for our friends at FTL Beach Cleanup, to celebrate their 30th cleanup and their non-profit The Local Octopus’ new status as a 501(c)3. This Educational FUNKtion featured dinner, live music, and a raffle, with all proceeds going to support The Local Octopus and fund ongoing beach cleanups. Program Support Specialist, Sarah Van Roekel, was able to attend and provide the educational portion of the event, with a presentation on the DISCOVERY Yacht Program and ways to make yachting sustainable, as well as a brief coral talk and a Q&A. We are thankful for this opportunity to connect with more members of the yachting community and are looking forward to collaborating with FTL Beach Cleanup in the future.
