Keep New Zealand Beautiful Week

Overview

The International SeaKeepers Society participated in Keep New Zealand Beautiful Week by hosting a clean-up at the Opotiki Skate Park. This was an incredible opportunity to get the community involved and bring awareness to the effects of littering. There is a creek that runs along the skate park that connects to the river and enters directly into the ocean. Making the community aware of this direct connection is an important step into a debris-free environment. We collected a whole truckload of rubbish some of which included several road cones, plastic crates, a chair, shoes, and plastic wrappers.
