On Saturday, January 28, 2023, The International SeaKeepers Society participated in the Microschool Showcase hosted by Microschool Florida. The event provided a space for parents and educators to learn more about Non-Traditional Education choices and Microschooling. The showcase took place during National School Choice Week and participants were free to attend. SeaKeepers was able to meet with over 30 parents and organizations and present our educational outreach opportunities, including our Junior SeaKeepers program, floating classrooms, and teacher workshops.
SeaKeepers had the opportunity to meet with local organizations that had a network of K-12 students. The organizations offered extra-curricular programming and supplemental enrichment involving STEAM (Science, Technology, Art, and Math) and were excited by the chance to include a marine science component through SeaKeepers. Among the organizations included: flex-learning schools that offered online schooling. These organizations are interested in having live hands-on in-person opportunities such as field trips and a chance to offer their students and parents to network.
The International SeaKeepers Society met with South Florida educational organizations and promoted our educational outreach opportunities. We shared flyers that had details of the programming and connected with community members for future collaboration.
